Roughly 2.8 billion disposable cups are consumed for coffee-to-go every year in Germany alone. That means after being used once, these cups land right in the garbage. That’s one-way trash that can be avoided, namely with a nation-wide and unified coffee-to-go deposit system. And that is exactly what the Munich startup Recup has been working on since September, 2016.

How does the deposit system work? How does the company deal with setbacks? What does Munich still need as a startup location? These questions and more are answered by co-founder Fabian Eckert:
