Five Munich Edtech Startups That Are Revolutionizing Learning

The digitalization of learning continues to progress. It’s innovative startups in particular that are driving development – as is demonstrated by these five examples from the Munich startup scene.

Studysmarter
Studysmarter is a comprehensive learning platform that unites the features of many apps and tools: content management, content processing for creating interactive learning materials, statistics and intelligent NLP algorithms. The platform isn’t tied to specific topics and can therefore be used by university and school students of all disciplines. First, students can upload their learning materials to the Studysmarter platform. Their materials are then analyzed and processed by the Studysmarter algorithm. This allows students to access the automatically generated smart studying content in real time. After studying and interacting with the content, students can view statistics on their current learning level and progress and increase learning motivation with gamification features. In 2020, the young company was able to complete a seed funding round in the millions. This was followed by a Series A round of 12 million euros in mid-2021. Among other things, Studysmarter wanted to use the fresh capital to work on its internationalization. As became known at the end of last year, however, the startup has now downsized its team. The majority of the jobs that were cut were in content and SEO, and their cooperation with freelancers, working students and interns was also brought to an end. (Photo: Studysmarter)
