The Munich startup Presize aims to solve the returns problem faced by online fashion retailers. The company developed an AI-supported, browser-based solution to determine the buyer’s correct size.
1. Who are you and what do you do?
We are Leon, Tomislav and Awais, and we founded Presize in 2019. We have very different professional backgrounds (Biomedical Computing, Consumer Science Robotics & AI), studied in different countries (UK, USA, Germany, Pakistan) and come from different countries (Bulgaria, Pakistan and Germany). Despite all that, we were still fortunate enough to meet each other at the CDTM. That was where we worked together on several digital innovation projects. It was during one of those projects that the idea for Presize originated. We help online fashion retailers reduce the number of returns by giving users recommendations for their matching size. Users simply turn around in a circle in front of their smartphone camera (clothed) and then receive a size recommendation for every product on the website or a perfectly fitted, custom-tailored piece of clothing.

2. But that’s nothing out of the box!
Our unique video approach gives us measuring accuracy that is comparable to a professional tailor. We have developed a technology (patent pending) that allows us to create a 3D model of the body from which body measurements are extracted. Our competitors, who use survey plug-ins or photo apps, aren’t able to replicate an individual body, meaning their measurements are less precise and not robust. Moreover, we’re a web app, but most of our competition uses mobile apps. That means it isn’t necessary to download our technology because it’s browser based.
3. What are the three main ingredients in your recipe for success?
A radical focus on the product and on user feedback as well as a strong, international team.
4. Now let’s get down to the nitty-gritty: How is business going?
We already have five paying customers just two months after our founding. One of them is the market leader in its segment and makes several million euros in revenue.
5. What does Munich mean to you?
For a B2B software startup, Munich is an ideal location – with a very large number of major companies, access to highly qualified techies and a strong ecosystem, with institutions such as UnternehmertTUM or CDTM.
6. How will your startup become the next unicorn? Or will we be seeing you at an Epic Fail Night soon?
The global online fashion retail market amounts to nearly 400 billion euros and is continuing to grow. The return rate is 50 percent. We feel confident that a startup that is able to solve that problem will become a unicorn.
7. Hiking or beer garden?
Hiking. But that doesn’t mean you can’t take a break with a beer!
