Beglaubigt.de: The digital notary for simple legal transactions

Founded in 2023 by Alexander Sporenberg and Felix Gerlach, the Munich-based legaltech startup Beglaubigt.de has developed a digital notary service. This makes notarial services simple, fast and available online - from the notarization of important documents to the digital founding of companies. Private individuals and companies can notarize contracts, create powers of attorney, set up associations, implement changes to articles of association and complete official procedures such as leaving the church conveniently and legally online. In addition to Beglaubigt.de, Platus was launched in 2024 as part of the renowned Y Combinator to offer further solutions for companies.

Munich Startup: What problem does Beglaubigt.de solve?

Alexander Sporenberg, co-founder and CEO of Beglaubigt.de: The conventional process of notarial services is characterized by long waiting times and a high level of organizational effort. Private individuals have to appear in person for many matters, which is time-consuming and inflexible. These traditional processes are inefficient and prevent many people from accessing legal services quickly and easily. With Beglaubigt.de, we are tackling precisely these problems and making notarial services more accessible and faster for everyone. It goes without saying that we set the highest standards in terms of legal certainty and quality.

Beglaubigt.de: “We optimize the entire process of notarial services through automation and AI”

Munich Startup: But that’s nothing out of the box!

Alexander Sporenberg: The legal sector is one of the last industries in which the potential of technology is far from exhausted – and this is exactly where we come in to redefine the standard. Through automation and AI, we optimize the entire process of notarial services to provide fast solutions. One reason why the legal sector is still lagging behind in terms of innovation is the high legal requirements. As a legal tech company, we focus on the highest legal standards in order to meet these requirements.

Munich Startup: What is your founding story?

Alexander Sporenberg : The idea for Beglaubigt.de arose from the conviction that the legal sector urgently needs a digital transformation. Felix Gerlach (my co-founder and CTO) previously founded the company Passbase Inc., which also specializes in digital identity solutions. This makes Felix an expert in legal tech and compliance tech.

It was similar for me. As part of the founding team of the Razor Group, I dealt with notaries and lawyers on a daily basis. I experienced first-hand the challenges of cross-border legal services and notarizations and increasingly got the feeling that there is still a lot of potential for optimization here, which can definitely be exploited.

High demands on the implementation of technological innovations

Munich Startup: What have been your biggest challenges so far?

Alexander Sporenberg: One of the biggest challenges is the highly regulated legal sector, which places high demands on the implementation of technological innovations. In order to ensure that our solutions are always in line with legal requirements, it was crucial to both understand the legal framework in detail and to respond flexibly to its requirements. To meet this requirement, we have built a highly qualified legal team of ten employees and developed our platform to meet the highest legal standards. In this way, we combine technological innovation with legal certainty and create a trustworthy offering for our customers.

Munich Startup: Where would you like to be in one year, where would you like to be in five years?

Alexander Sporenberg: Our goal is to become the standard for digital notarial services and to expand our service to the most important European regions in the coming year. We not only want to serve private individuals (B2C), but also develop solutions for companies (B2B). For this reason, we launched Platus in November 2024, with main offices in San Francisco and Munich. Platus offers legal infrastructure as no-code and API (=Application Programming Interface) – from notarization, drafting, signing, redlining to certified translations. Platus serves customers in Europe and the USA. As part of the Y Combinator, we are aiming for rapid global scaling with Platus within the next five years.

Munich the perfect base

Munich Startup: How have you experienced Munich as a startup location so far?

Alexander Sporenberg: We deliberately chose Munich as a startup location and relocated from Berlin to Munich at the beginning of last year. The city is characterized by its strong economy, excellent infrastructure and a dynamic network of investors, startups and established companies. With the LTC (Legal Tech Colab), Munich offers a strong ecosystem, especially in the legal tech sector, and is therefore a perfect basis for our company to drive digitalization in the conservative legal sector.

Munich Startup: Risk or security?

Alexander Sporenberg: We focus on both: innovation and security. We dare to transform a traditional market and introduce new technologies. At the same time, we know that security is essential in our market. Without the highest standards and absolute legal certainty, our product would not be sustainable. Our solutions are reliable, legally compliant and enjoy the trust of our clients. Our aim is to offer innovative legal services that are not only groundbreaking, but also absolutely reliable. To achieve this, we take bold steps forward without losing sight of security.
