Familymind AI: The AI that reorganizes everyday family life

The Munich-based startup Familymind AI wants to help families organize their everyday lives better. The AI-supported platform helps to distribute tasks fairly and reduce the mental load of individuals. The startup was founded in 2024 by Rosaria Di Donna, CEO, Mousa Abdelmaksoud, CTO, and Ariane Vogel, CPO. It is currently Exist-funded at TUM, and is supported by UnternehmerTUM and the Social Impact Republic.

Munich Startup: What does Familymind AI do? What problem do you solve?

Rosaria Di Donna, co-founder and CEO of Familymind AI: Familymind AI is the first platform that uses an AI-supported chatbot to help families organize their daily lives, promote mental health and fairly distribute tasks in everyday family life. The problem: in modern families, a large mental burden often falls on just a few family members. This leads to stress, excessive demands and often conflicts. Our “1-to-family” chatbot promotes a fair distribution of responsibilities, facilitates communication and helps to strengthen family ties.

Familymind AI goes one step further

Munich Startup: But that’s nothing out of the box!

Rosaria Di Donna: There are indeed apps for managing tasks or sharing calendars. Familymind AI goes one step further: our chatbot interacts multidimensionally with all family members in order to adapt flexibly to the needs and dynamics of the family. This allows us to offer an individualized, AI-supported solution that understands the special challenges of modern families and actively reduces mental stress.

Munich Startup: What is your founding story?

Rosaria Di Donna: The idea was born in 2021 when I became a mother myself and experienced the challenge of balancing work commitments with family life. While I initially tried to structure my everyday life with to-do apps, ChatGPT and WhatsApp groups, I quickly realized that a holistic, intelligent solution was needed. Since June 2024, I have been working on Familymind AI together with Mousa, Ariane, Khaled and Tavishi, our first employee, and an extended team of tech and family health experts to provide families with exactly this support. Our team was also part of the renowned Digital Product School (DPS, Batch #22) of UnternehmerTUM in Munich until December 2024 and is part of the Germany-wide Social Impact Republic. Here we were able to further develop the product with top experts and an expanded team and prepare it for market entry. We have had our first users on the platform since December 2024 and the learning curve couldn’t be steeper.

Important for Familymind AI: ensuring fairness and inclusion

Munich Startup: What have been your biggest challenges so far?

Rosaria Di Donna: Our biggest challenges lie in the technical development, especially in developing an AI that really supports everyday family life and ensures fairness and inclusion. It takes a lot of effort to avoid distortions in the AI that could lead to unfair suggestions – for example in the distribution of tasks or communication within the family. Our aim is to create a solution that considers and supports all family members equally.

In addition, the protection of privacy and the handling of sensitive family information is a crucial point. As we work with personal data, we attach particular importance to adhering to high data protection standards in order to maintain families’ trust in our solution.

B2B partnerships to be expanded

Munich Startup: How is business going?

Rosaria Di Donna: We are in full development with Familymind AI and have already seen a lot of interest in the early development phase. We are currently in the beta testing phase and the feedback from families is exceeding our expectations. Our waiting list currently includes more than 250 families who are eagerly awaiting the release of the MVP(Minimum Viable Product). Since the start of our social media presence in October 2024, we have seen an average monthly growth of over 150% in the number of followers and have reached more than 4,000 people in our target group.

At the same time, the first B2B partnerships have been launched. And we are in talks with potential corporate partners who would like to integrate Familymind AI as part of their work-life balance offering. Our goal is to gain three corporate partnerships by the end of the year. In this way, we want to bring Familymind AI to even more families and expand our reach.

Munich Startup: Where would you like to be in a year, where would you like to be in five years?

Rosaria di Donna: In one year, we would like to have successfully established Familymind AI on the market and integrated feedback from the beta phase to ensure an optimal user experience. In five years, we are aiming to play a leading role in the field of family tech. We want to expand our platform with certified health services to support families holistically in their everyday lives.

Familymind AI benefits from Munich as a strong startup location

Munich Startup: How have you experienced Munich as a startup location so far?

Rosaria Di Donna: Munich is a great location with strong networks, a high level of innovation and first-class support services for startups. We particularly benefit from programs such as the UnternehmerTUM startup center, the Digital Product School, the overarching Social Impact Republic and our connection to the Technical University of Munich (TUM), where we are supported by EXIST funding. The collaboration with the Technical University of Munich and our EXIST mentor Prof. Dr. Pretschner provides us with valuable scientific expertise that flows directly into our product development. This comprehensive support gives our team the best conditions to successfully develop and establish Familymind AI. We feel we are in good hands.

Munich Startup: Hidden champion or shooting star?

Rosaria Di Donna: We see ourselves as a shooting star! We are already experiencing enormous interest from families in the hot product development phase. Inquiries, news and feedback show us that Familymind AI is very popular. Strengthening families, promoting mental health and supporting justice in everyday life – these are our drivers that will drive our long-term growth and make us successful. And that: with the best team in the world.
