Unvyl: Website made easy for small businesses & Co

Tom Sacher, Jonas Matting and Matthias Mann - the three founders of Unvyl - know this: A good and well-maintained online presence is now essential for almost every company. Through their professional experience, however, they also know that such an online presence poses considerable problems for small companies, startups and self-employed people with a small budget and without expert knowledge. In this interview, the three founders explain how Unvyl wants to help with its solution.

Munich Startup: What does your startup do? What problem do you solve?

Unvyl: Startups, self-employed people, small companies and businesses often face a major challenge when it comes to websites and online marketing: How do I create a website? What content do I need for it? How do I make the website GDPR-compliant? How do I reach new customers and employees? How can I tackle these issues cost-effectively? People often lack the expertise and time to develop a good digital presence themselves and high-end websites from agencies are too expensive for many. We want to solve this problem.

Unvyl is an AI platform with website builder, online marketing and recruiting solutions, specially developed for these target groups. Our customers receive an all-in-one solution for their digital presence: website creation, hosting, employee search, marketing and legal security (incl. legal texts and GDPR-compliant).

The basis for this is the automated creation of customized websites for over 200 industries, including design, texts, images and legal texts in just a few clicks. We focus very strongly on adapting the websites to the needs of the respective industries right from the start with the help of AI. This means that our customers have a very good starting point after just a few minutes and can begin to adapt the websites to their needs. Our website editor is extremely easy to use, requires no prior knowledge and supports with AI text creation, free image databases and visual suggestions on how the websites can be designed.

However, a website alone does not make small companies successful. They need digital reach and visibility. Once the website has been created and published, Unvyl uses AI to automate additional demanding tasks such as SEO, Google company profiles, content, social media posts and the creation and placement of job advertisements. This gives small companies access to professional marketing measures without expert knowledge.

Affordable and efficient access to a modern online presence

Munich Startup: But that already exists!

Unvyl: Our solution not only includes the creation of websites, but also integrated digital marketing tools and employee recruitment solutions. This allows us to address key aspects of digitalization such as online visibility, digital marketing, legal security, e-commerce capabilities and digital recruiting. By automating complex processes such as SEO (search engine optimization), social media posts and the automatic placement of job advertisements on relevant portals, we contribute to increasing digital efficiency. We also promote the use of advanced technologies such as AI in everyday life.

Overall, Unvyl offers startups, the self-employed, small companies and businesses in particular simple, affordable and efficient access to a modern online presence with the necessary reach to get off to a digital start.

Munich Startup: What is your founding story?

Unvyl: All three founders come from the fields of e-commerce, online marketing and software development and have already worked together as employees in several companies. We have worked for corporations, medium-sized companies and startups and are therefore very familiar with the potential and possibilities of websites with professional online marketing.

As part-time freelancers, Matthias and Jonas have also supported small, regional companies and businesses with their websites and marketing. We kept coming across the same problems: Poor design, website completely outdated or hacked, website not mobile optimized, problems with GDPR and technology, no digital reach, problems finding and convincing new employees, little time and know-how, low budgets. Existing website construction kits were often too complicated or lacked important functions, such as legal security or tools for marketing and recruiting. Agencies and experts are often too expensive for this target group.

That’s why we wanted to create a solution that would make professional online presences possible and feasible for everyone. That’s why we founded Unvyl (derived from “to unveil”). The conception and development began part-time in mid-2021. The GmbH was then founded in March 2023 and the platform went live in August 2023.

Munich Startup: What have been your biggest challenges so far?

Unvyl: It was very important to us to understand the needs and problems of our target group as well as possible right from the start and to design our product accordingly. That’s why we spent a lot of time during development conducting interviews, carrying out user tests and constantly challenging ourselves as to which functions were really important. In doing so, we often discarded entire feature sets and completely reoriented ourselves.

Technologically, our platform is also very sophisticated, as we have to cover everything from domain registration, hosting, website creation and editing to marketing connections, AI functions and recruiting in order to have a chance in this highly competitive market. We didn’t want to use any existing content management systems, but instead developed a completely independent solution.  This means that there are no dependencies on third-party systems, which enables rapid further development. As a self-financed start-up with a small team, this presented us with a real challenge.

Ambitious 5-year plan

Munich Startup: Where would you like to be in one year, where would you like to be in five years?

Unvyl: The foundation has been laid! Our customers can achieve their goals more easily with Unvyl and the feedback is very good. In a year’s time, we want to further develop our core products (website, marketing and recruiting), make them even simpler and more efficient and significantly expand our own reach.

In 5 years’ time, Unvyl will offer much more to enable startups, self-employed people, small businesses and enterprises to reach their full potential by giving them access to technology and resources that are normally only available to large companies.

Munich Startup: How have you experienced Munich as a startup location so far?

Unvyl: Munich is getting started! We are experiencing a growing community of founders and startups, incubators, coworking spaces and startup centers, mentors and events. What’s particularly nice is that everyone (in our experience) is willing to help each other. We can only recommend everyone to tackle their ideas and be brave – you are not alone! This spirit also makes it beyond the city limits to us in Dachau.

Munich Startup: Quick exit or staying power?

Unvyl: 100 percent staying power. We have a lot of fun with our topics and are solving a real problem. In this context, there are many other aspects that we would like to tackle together in the future.
