Online Appointment Planer Timify: “We Were Definitely Ahead of Our Time”

Timify offers companies an online solution for planning appointments for employees and customers. Andreas Knürr, CEO and co-founder of Timify, answers our Seven Questions.

Munich Startup: Who are you and what do you do? Please introduce yourselves!

Andreas Knürr: We founded Timify as a trio: Andreas Knürr, Boyan Tanchev and Hristo Hristakiev, and that was back in 2012. Boyan and I already had a joint advertising agency, Webmedia7, where Hristo worked as Head of Development. Now from two offices, we serve more than 55,000 customers in 28 countries.

Munich Startup: What problem does your startup solve?

Andreas Knürr: Timify is an online solution for appointment planning and resource management for small, medium and large companies. Timify bridges the gap between the offline and online world: Customers and employees can always use the online appointment planner – 24 hours a day, from multiple locations and without having to account for time zones or opening hours. This has grown in importance for many companies during the corona crisis in particular, and we were able to help them optimize and digitize their systems. We also made Timify free for systemically relevant companies.

Timify doubles turnover in 2020

Munich Startup: But that’s nothing out of the box!

Andreas Knürr: That’s because we came up with it. Joking aside: Our system can be easily integrated into any IT infrastructure while maintaining the highest standards of safety. That and an array of analysis options make us unique, which is also why corporations such as Fielmann, HVB and Intersport decided to work with us.

Munich Startup: What have been your three biggest challenges so far?

Andreas Knürr: We were definitely ahead of our time. Now with rapid growth in digitization, we’re seeing a significant increase in demand. Moreover, we decided to set up a completely new system in the background in 2018 that offered us brand new technical capabilities. After a lot of hard work, we launched it in 2019. It was worth it in the end and, in retrospect, wasthe best thing we could have done, because it allowed us to significantly stimulate demand and double our turnover.

Munich Startup: How is business going?

Andreas Knürr: From 2019 to 2020, we doubled our turnover and increased the daily bookings on Timify to 100,000, which is three times the amount in the previous year.

Munich Startup: What do you think about Munich as a startup location?

Andreas Knürr: Munich offers us an environment where we can find highly educated and internationally experienced employees. That is very important for our international expansion. In addition to our office in Munich, we just bought a company in Bulgaria. Through E7 Studio, we were able to expand our access to tech-savvy programmers.

Munich Startup: Risk or security?

Andreas Knürr: Munich offers us a very reliable and predictable environment, which is also fostered by our investors. They have always believed in us and stood by our side through every challenge.
